Resolve Company File Issue with QuickBooks File Doctor Tool

Troubleshoot and repair company file or data file issues in QuickBooks accounting software with the use of File Doctor diagnostic tool. Common errors such as can't open company file, missing customer, vendor, or employee lists.  As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, QuickBooks Desktop does not have a built-in "File Doctor" tool. However, QuickBooks does offer a separate utility called the QuickBooks File Doctor that you can download and use to diagnose and repair issues with QuickBooks company filesThis tool can be very helpful in resolving certain types of file-related problems.

Here's how you can use the QuickBooks File Doctor tool

  1. Download and Install QuickBooks File Doctor:
    • Go to the official Intuit website or search for "QuickBooks File Doctor" in your preferred search engine.
    • Download the tool from the official Intuit website to ensure you're getting a legitimate and up-to-date version.
    • Follow the installation instructions to install the tool on your computer.
  1. Run QuickBooks File Doctor:
    • Double-click the QuickBooks File Doctor icon on your desktop or search for it in your computer's program files.
    • When the tool opens, click "Browse" to select the company file you want to diagnose and repair. If you're not sure where your company file is located, you can use the "Browse" option to search for it.
    • Click "Check File" to start the diagnostic process.
  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Account:
    • The tool may prompt you to sign in to your QuickBooks account. This helps ensure you have the necessary permissions to access and repair the company file.
  1. Repair the Company File:
    • After the diagnostic process, the tool will provide you with options to repair the file if issues are found. Choose the appropriate option based on the results.
